Candidate for Shelby County Commissioner
David Spicer is a lifelong Shelby County resident, proven leader, and dedicated public servant who has spent over three decades protecting and serving his community.A 1982 graduate of Sidney High School, David went on to serve his country in the United States Navy and later the United States Coast Guard, including two deployments to the Middle East. Throughout his military and law enforcement career, he has repeatedly taken an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States—and he stands firmly by it today.
Since 1994, David has served with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, rising through the ranks from Corrections Officer to Patrol Deputy and Detective. He currently serves as Special Response Team (SRT) Commander and Training Sergeant, responsible for preparing officers and civilians alike to respond to real-world threats. His leadership has helped strengthen public safety across the region.David has been married to his high school sweetheart, Laila, for nearly 40 years. Together, they have built a strong family rooted in faith, hard work, and service. A committed Christian, David is an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Sidney.
